"The Story Of..."

Img_1404 Sorry for the late blog folks.  My summer schedule is not working with my schedule!  I'm sure a lot of you can relate.

So do you have a story to tell?  This weeks book, "The Story Of..."  could be the place to tell it.  We've got these fabulous kraft envelopes that I knew would be perfect for creating a mini book.  The paper and journaling cards are from October Afternoon. I know your going to love using these envelopes for a book.  Stock up, you'll want to make more!

This class will be taught on July 23rd.

"Get Happy"

Img_1314 This weeks book is from a great little kit by Cosmo Cricket.  The paper in the kit is called Get Happy and that's just what you'll do when you see it!  (Wow, that was really corny!)  Anyway, the kit has the mini book, paper, stickers, rub ons and blackboard die cuts.  It's a great price too!  The only thing I added was some black chipboard to mat pictures on.

I decided to put random pictures of my kids just having fun this summer in my book.  I think you could use this book for just about anything because the papers are so vibrant and fun!

This class will be taught on July 16th.

"Camp"

Img_1252copy_2   Have you  noticed in scrapbooking how many owls, birds, trees and outdoor stuff your seeing?  I guess it's our way of going green!  I fell in love with this tree book from Maya Roads the minute I saw it.  Pair it with Elsie Flannigan's "Forrest" line and, well.....HELLO!  Her stuff is always so fun and a little funky.  Alot of people look at it and think it's so cute but don't really know how to use it.  This mini book was perfect for the paper, rub ons and chipboard.  The paper on the front cover is actually an adhesive fabric.  It's really cool to work with.

I put pictures from my son's 5th grade camp in my book.  It would be perfect for any summer or fall day pictures.  I think it would be a great family tree book also.  (What a great thing for a Family Reunion!)

This class will be taught on July 9th.
Hope to see you!

"America The Beautiful"

Img_0970 I just couldn't resist doing another patriotic album when I saw this fabulous stuff from Scenic Route.  I love the prints of the paper and the oh so cute embellishments.  It flew out the door at the store but don't worry, I have a stash put aside just for this class!

The arrow die cut I used for the book is new to our die cut center.  I can see using this one for a lot of different albums. (Notice if you turn it, you also have a house.)  The rings I bound the book with are from the Creative Cafe.  We have all different colors now!

Hope to see you in class!

This class will be taught on July 2nd.

"Land of the Free"

Img_0967 I never get tired of paper bag books.  One great thing about them is that you instantly have pockets to tuck tags, journaling or whatever you like in.  Rusty Pickle's patriotic papers work perfectly with the brown paper bags.  The papers have that aged rustic feel to them.  I used the patriotic sayings from the cardstock cut out sheet.  There are alot of sayings about fireworks so if you have a big "blow out" on the 4th of July there a lot of pieces you could use for that.

This book would be great for those 4th of July pictures or for someone serving in the military.

This class will be taught on June 25th.

"Family"

Hello loyal blog followers!  Sorry this post is late but I haven't had internet service and believe me, that's not good!

Img_0964 This weeks book is all about Family.  I used the Bo Bunny Chipboard word album and Bo Bunny Organic line of paper.  You'll use your exacto knife alot but it's well worth it!  The book is full of cute sayings, chipboard shapes and ribbon.  I used ink and Dabbers to color the chipboard.  You can also use any paint that you like.  I usually give suggestions on different ways you can use the mini albums but this week I think "Family" is your only option!

I hope you can make it to class!  It's always a good time!

This class will be taught on June 18.

"Best Dad"

Img_0926 Just in time for Father's Day!  I whipped this book up (literally) with cardstock, patterned paper, stickers and a needle and thread.  Now don't go running off screaming! It's really simple!  The pages are die cut and hand stitched together with linen thread.  The hardest part about this book is remembering not to pull your thread to tight or you might rip the page.  Other than that it's a piece of cake!

I used the Boxer line of paper from Basic Grey and the Dad sticker sheet from 7gypsys.  If you don't need a Father's Day book, you can change the sticker and/or paper to whatever you want.  Once you learn how to make this book, I think it's one you'll make over and over!

This class will be taught on June11th.

"Gatefold Album"

003 K&Company makes this great little Gatefold Album that I gave a try for this weeks mini book.  It was really fun because there are so many things you can do with the pages inside.  I cut some in half to make smaller pages, turned one into a tab and made a pocket page.  I even added a transperancy page.  The possibilities are endless.  There are a ton of pages in this book but I only used a fraction of them for the class.  Buy extra paper if you want to do the whole book.  Speaking of paper...hello...Pink Paisley!!  I loved this stuff when I saw pictures of it on line after CHA.  It definately did not dissapoint me in real life!  The colors are perfect for any event and any season.  I think you're going to like playing with this stuff!

This class will be taught on June4th.

Circle of Friends

Img_0877 I've been eyeing this Scenic Route paper for a while now.  I love the bright colors and floral prints.  There's just something about it that makes me a little happy.  The patterns were perfect to put in this Maya Roads Layer Book along with the stickers and chipboard die cuts.  I used my file to distress the chipboard die cuts and really like the way it turned out.  I used a Dabber to finish off the edges of the pages after I had them all covered.  I used green but you could use so many different colors with this paper.

This is a great book to celebrate those special friendships in your life.  Make one for you and a friend.  Better yet, bring a friend to class with you and make them together!

This class will be taught on May 28th.

"Favorites"

In the Creative Cafe there have been these cute journal/albums hanging on the wall and I've walked passed them a million times.  A couple weeks ago I decided to open one up and take a look at it.  HOLY COW!!  I had no idea these were so cute!  The covers and inside divider pages are a kraft color and the best thing is that the inside pages are lined!  Who knew!!

5_21_08_favorites_album I used the album to make a favorite pictures book.  You can use the dividers to have sections for individual people, places, season, holidays etc.  I chose to use them as just another page in the book and to turn some of them into pocket pages.  I love how you can put a photo on one of the pages and journal right next to it on the lined page.  You don't have to embellish a whole lot to make this a really cool album!

I used the oh so cute sassafras paper, cardstock stickers and twill ribbon.  In the class we will cover the book and decorate the inside tabs and make pocket pages.  The book is designed to add your favorite photos as you gather them.  Mine has no rhyme or reason to the order of photos and that's how I like it!

This class will be taught on May 21st.
