Class - Fun with the Slice

    If you love your Slice machine, and I know you do...You need to take this class.  It is an ongoing series called "Fun with the Slice" taught by Novell.  She is the "Slice Queen" and will show you how to make this adorable tri fold card.  It has a sweet sentiment written on a tag that tucks right into the card. It is the perfect way to show your mother how much you care. For this class you will need to bring your Slice machine and the Wedding design card. Class - Princess Party

  Do you have a little princess in your life?  We are going to have a very special "Princess Event" for you and your little princess in waiting.  This class is designed for little princesses ages 6-12.  Princess Tammy will guide you as you create one of a kind crafts.  This class will feature this adorable wand and ring.  Come dressed in your finest princess regalia and don't forget your camera! You will recieve the royal treatment. This class is Saturday, April 4th from 11:00am-12:30pm.

Girl Friday

  These two layouts were created by Kim Warner using the new 'Girl Friday' collection from Cosmo Cricket...these have really fun colors and great vintage images.  She also used pink fabric Thickers alphabets from American Crafts for her titles.  I love how she was able to get multiple photos on each of her pages...great job Kim!

NW Paper Chase

    Last Year Lee and I did the Northwest Paper Chase and took our own pictures in front of every store.  Yesterday we started the Paper Chase in the pouring rain, but we brought Erin, our “official” photographer, with us.  There are twice as many stores to visit this year, so we are planning another day visiting scrapbook stores.  In the morning the rain put a little damper on our visits, but the sun was shining by afternoon and we really enjoyed seeing all the stores.  

 

The highlight of the afternoon wasn’t a scrapbook store, but a bakery.  A friend of mine told me about a wonderful gluten free bakery in Kent just about 3 blocks away from the Scrapbook Nook.  I found out in 2007 that I have celiac disease, which is the inability of my body to process gluten which is found in wheat, barley and rye.  It is completely controlled by a gluten free diet.  I love eating fresh fruit and vegetables and meat, but every once in a while, I miss baked goodies. (Actually I think I just miss the smell of baked goodies.)  Anyway, we stopped at Haley’s corner bakery and bought a loaf of bread, a slice of pizza and a cookie, all of which are absolutely heavenly and a wonderful treat after a long hard day visiting scrapbook stores.

How Blue-tiful!

  This "blue-tiful" layout was created by Jacalyn Soo using one of the latest collections from Basic Grey called Marrakech.  Look at those fantastic photos! She also used American Crafts Thickers alphabets for her title...they are white fabric letters and she inked the edges with a blue inkpad to tie it in to her layout.

Shop Hop

Tomorrow starts the second annual Northwest Paper Chase shop hop.  If you are not familiar with a shop hop – it’s where you buy a passport (and pin) and visit 28 local scrapbook stores over a two week period.  Shop Hoppers get store discounts, prizes and make ‘n takes at each store.  We have been busily getting ready at Lasting Memories to welcome about 300 shop hoppers.  We have special sales going on, lots of prizes and even an exclusive mini album.  If you haven’t yet purchased your shop hop passport, you better hurry, we only have about 10 left.  The shop hop runs from Friday, March 20^th through Saturday, April 4^th.   Lee and I did the shop hop last year and we are going to this year.  It was a lot of fun.

 

We spent Monday putting together our free make ‘n take tag for the shop hop.  We thought that we had made a very simple design, but it took 4 and sometimes 5 of us about 3 hours marching around tables putting little pieces together.  Of course, we all agreed that then end result was worth it.  If you want one of these darling tags, you must have a shop hop passport and be one of the first 300 people to get one, because we only made 300 kits and when they’re gone…(we’ll probably make more)

Basic Grey Class

I spent this afternoon working on April’s Basic Grey page for my class this weekend.  I want to show next month’s page in this class, so everyone will be inspired to sign up for the next one.  After years of being a less than enthusiastic Basic Grey fan, I am finally a convert.  I have been frustrated with Basic Grey’s customer service for years and it has spilled over into my attitude toward their products, but in the 2 months that I have been preparing their class kits, I have fallen head over heels for Basic Grey.  Is it their beautiful rubons that rub off so easily, the sticker letters that have so many vowels that you can write  whole sentiments, the chipboard letters, beautifully coordinated papers or all the really cute buttons that match so perfectly?  It’s the whole thing!  Everything is a joy to work with.  Now the part that is not a joy?  Getting photos of myself every month.  Each page features me – even when I am not loving my hair at the moment and am not sure that I want it immortalized.
