Life after Lasting Memories part 1

There is no rest for the busy.  Erin's wedding is coming up quick and I volunteered to make her invitations.  I have begun to wonder what was I thinking?  These invitations have so many steps to them.  It helps that they are beautiful, when I get tired of cutting, gluing and stuffing I can just look at them and think "Oh so pretty" and then I can keep going. 

Don't let the tape runner on the counter fool you, I glued these invitations together with mono-multi glue.  The tape runner wasn't strong enough to hold the pocket together and I hated to glue them multiple times. 

Just a piece of trivia - we sold almost 1,200 bottle of tombo mono-multi glue during our big sale.

It's not a suprise to everyone working at Lasting Memories - mono is our favorite glue.  It holds better than anything else.  I brought home a couple of cases myself.  Now I have used up three bottles on these invitations.  AndI am afraid that I might not have enough to last.

We closed the doors of Lasting Memories forever last week.  Lee and I wanted to thank all of the really nice people that came in during the final closing days to thank us and bring us treats.  I have just a  little glimpse of what it is like to die and have everyone tell good things about you at your funeral.  Because we are going away - it's almost like a death.  I even got flowers - I just love flowers.  It was so nice to have everyone be so thoughtful.  So many people had kind things to say.  While we were still planning Lasting Memories, 14 years ago, we had a vision of what we hoped that it would accomplish.  Judging from the comments of so many of you, our vision has come to fruition.  So many of you have scrapbooks because of something we did to inspire you.  Don't stop now.  Keep on Scrapbooking!

Thanks for the Memories!

Tuesday we officially closed our doors at 3:00pm. Thank you to everyone who came by during the sale. We had a little birthday party for Tina after we closed, and we felt so bad for all the customers who kept coming and trying to open the locked doors that we decided to make it a little more obvious that we were closed for good. So we posted a huge "CLOSED" sign on the outside of the storefront. Then we couldn't resist adding stickers and journaling. What can we say--once a scrapbooker, always a scrapbooker!

A Last Surprise - Sweet Summertime

Surprise! We received one final shipment, just in time for the last day of the sale. It is from a brand new company, Echo Park Paper Co, and it's called Sweet Summertime. She Came Back

This is Bobbi. Once upon a time, Bobbi used to come to the store every single day, sometimes more than once in a day, and she became one of our favorite customers. She was a part of the Lasting Memories family! Then she moved to Texas, and Jennifer and the employees who loved her were so sad. Until she came back. We were so surprised when Bobbi showed up on the first day of our big sale. She happened to be in town and heard that we were closing, and didn't miss her chance to come bid the store farewell.

We have many other loyal customers who have become part of the Lasting Memories family, and that is probably the hardest part about closing our doors. We are saying goodbye to our good friends, our family. We can't say if we will meet again to gush over new products or design a layout together. But we will always be thankful for the way you've brightened our day, for sharing your enthusiasm for scrapbooking with us, and for all the memories we've made together.

OK Henny Penny - How's it Going?

When I came into the store Tuesday with my guests from Germany, London greeted me with Hey, Henny Penny - how's it going?  I guess I did think the sky was falling on Monday, but everything worked out.  I was still cleaning the front door when our guests arrived, but everything else was done.  We had a wonderful visit.  We met Erin's future mother, father and brother in law.  They stayed with us for a couple of nights and we had great fun showing them some of the tourist sights.  It's been several years since we went to the Space Needle and it was a beautiful day for it.  We learned so many wonderful things about our new son-in-law.  All in all it was a wonderful visit. 

 Alvina told me how much they love Erin just as they were leaving and it warms my heart to know that even if I can't see Erin very often, she has a mother in Germany who loves her too.

They were very curious about scrapbooking.  I tried to explain about scrapbooking, finally I gave them Erin's scrapbook to read.  They LOVED it!

I hope they will forgive me for posting a photo with their eyes shut.  I didn't get ANY good pictures of them.
