QuicKutz Crew Meeting Date Change

Hello my QuicKutz Crew friends! Just a note to let you know we have moved the November Crew meeting to Friday, December 4th. The original date was the day after THanksgiving, and many of you said you would not be able to make it that night. Hopefully that will be a better night for most of you!

If you would like to participate in the swap, please e-mail me or call the store. The deadline to respond is Thursday, November 19th.

For our challenge this month, we are making something using the negative of a die cut. That is the outline of the shape rather than the shape that you cut. For those of you who were at the October meeting, Libby used an example of this on her show & tell.

Photo Tile Class - The Perfect Holiday Gift

These gorgeous photo tiles were created by local professional photographer Andrea Sorensen. She sells them to her photography clients, but she's coming to Lasting Memories for a special class to teach you how to make them yourself! You choose the size, the photo, the paper, and the ribbon for a completely custom gift. And once you know how to make them, you can make them for all the special people on your Christmas list!

Special note: You will need to choose 12"x12" or 6"x6" size and have your photograph ready before the class. Your photograph should be approximately 7"x12" or 4"x6", depending on the tile size you choose. It must be printed in a matte or lustre finish--not glossy! Ink jet printed photos will not work.

Students wanting to do the 12 x 12 tile need to prepare their picture as follows:

 

*Image must have a large digital resolution, 300 dpi is recommended

 

*Open a new document in Photoshop with the following setttings:

  Size 12 x 12, whitebackground, 300 dpi

*Then open your digital image and drag onto the 12x12 blank template using the "move tool" (ctrl+m)

*Using the "transform" (ctrl+t) tool, resize your digital image to be the width of the template (12 inches).  You should end up with a large whte space at the bottom, which will be covered by scrapbook  paper later :)

*Flatten image (shift+ctrl+e) and save as a jpeg.  

 

Costco's print lab will print a 12x12 image for around $3.00 or less, be sure to choose a lustre finish!

Christmas Fun with the Slice Class

Novell has another wonderful Fun with the Slice class lined up in November. You'll make a card portfolio and four different cards to go inside using the Mistletoe design card. If you own the Slice and want to learn new tips and techniques, you will love this class!

Fast & Fabulous Layout Class - New!

We are so lucky to have Jodi Russell teaching a quick and easy 4-page layout class, something that many of you have been asking for. Fast and Fabulous Layouts will teach you ways create well-designed pages in a snap, and you'll be able to use the things you learn over and over again.

In this month's class we’ll make two double 12 x 12 layouts, each with a “favorite” theme. 

The first layout uses Bo Bunny’s Delilah papers and stickers to create a layout perfect for your favorite fall or Thanksgiving photos. We’ll learn how to layer paper and these fun pre-printed border strips to create a design that can be easily replicated on your album pages.  

Learning to alter our layout sketch, we’ll create a second double page layout with a holiday theme. This holiday layout will utilize Making Memories Mistletoe papers. By layering patterned paper strips to create our own, unique borders and creating our own embellishments, we’ll complete a layout that is simple, attractive and economical. This layout has space to showcase 7 photos. Choose your own seven holiday favorites...favorite people, holiday treats, activities, memories etc.

Basic Grey Cards Kits Available

Today is your last chance to sign up for our encore class of Basic Grey cards using the "Eerie" line! We have a second class Friday morning from 10:00am to Noon. Can't make it? Kits are also available.

 

We also have a few kits left for the Basic Grey Cards class using the "Indian Summer" line. These beautiful cards are perfect for fall!
 

Both kits and the class are $30 each, and come with tons of extra product to use on additional cards or layouts!

"Eerie" Class Added!

If you missed our Basic Grey Cards Class using the "Eerie" paper line, you've got one more chance to make these 12 beautiful cards before Halloween! We've added a second "Eerie" class on Friday, October 23rd from 10:00am to 12:00pm. So if you have a hard time making it to an evening class, you now have a morning alternative! If you can't make it to this class either, kits are also available.

Our instructor Audrey is new to Lasting Memories, and she is absolutely fabulous. Here's what class participants said about this class:

Christmas Joy Card Class This Month

It may still be October, but the Christmas season is quickly approaching. Now is the perfect time to get a jump start on your Christmas cards before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season begins. And we have the perfect class to help you do just that.

We feel so lucky to have Bethany Crowell, a member of our design team, as our newest teacher at Lasting Memories. She has put together 10 gorgeous Christmas cards using lots of pretty trims and plenty of sparkle.

Cards, Cards, and More Cards!

We have three cards classes coming up this month and they are all amazing.

Audrey will show you how to make 12 gorgeous cards using supplies from the newest Basic Grey lines for just $30. That's less than you'd pay for 12 Hallmark cards! So you get to come spend a couple of hours with friends being creative, building up your card stash, and saving money while you're at it. Seriously, it doesn't get better than that.

Making Memories will be sending a representative to the store October 16 and 17 for two great classes and two fun crops. Here is a sample of the spooky Halloween cards you'll make in the Slice Cards class using the Spook Alley design card. If you have a Slice, you don't want to miss this class! You'll use lots of different techniques that will boost your confidence with your Slice machine. Plus, Making Memories always spoils our students with tons of extra products.
